An Introduction to Organic Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

What do we mean by "Organic Search Engine Optimisation" in simple terms it is getting our website indexed naturally by a search engine for a set of keyword phrases that represent our business proposition. This was a simple task in the early days of the Internet but since the mid  ninties the Internet has grown significantly and competition can be fearce for certain keyword phrases. This growth has led to  the creation of Search Engine Optimisation(SEO) & Marketing(SEM) services such as those provided by DPC. Another development has been, search engines offering paid placement of adverts for products and services from businesses based on keyword phrase. These adverts are shown as "Sponsored Links"  we cover this topic in detail in our E-Marketing section under CPC Management

Below is a snap shot of a Search Engine Returns Page (SERP) which reflects the format used by most search engines. This format show the "Search Term" entered and the "Search Term"used by the search engine to recover pages from its index. Also shown is the "Number of Pages" held by the search engine in their indexed for the search term. On the SERP are two sets of listings "Sponsored Returns" and "Organic Returns". The sponsored lists are based on the search term as a keyword phrase, its bid value and a budget set against the click through rate (CTR) where as the organic list is based on a priorities structure set by a range of algorithums. It is understanding these algorithums and how they impact on a website page which is at the heart of organic search engine optimisation.
